Connecting to Industry

Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development

SEVA-PORT seeks to identify and provide business resources to entrepreneurs and new businesses in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and Transportation Warehousing and Distribution (TWD) fields. Grant funds will be used to provide business counseling, training programs and seminars, and other forms of start-up assistance in M&S and TWD related fields.

The College of William & Mary will be offering business education modules including courses in strategic business planning, finance, and sales and marketing. In addition, the Crater Small Business Development Center is developing a series of online entrepreneurial training for small businesses.

Industry Forums

Responding to the needs of M&S and TWD industries is essential to the SEVA-PORT project. The initiative has brought together business leaders in the region to discuss employee training, curriculum development needs, and anticipated areas of growth. M&S and TWD organizations and companies who are interested in getting involved in these discussions should contact Rick Sciullo at rsciullo@oihr.org.

The ultimate vision of the initiative is to further integrate M&S technologies into the Port industries of Transportation, Warehousing and Distribution. SEVA-PORT has partnered with the College of William & Mary to study national best practices of technologies used in TWD industries. Results will be disseminated to the business and education community and strategies to facilitate this integration will be introduced. Collaborative industry forums will facilitate the exchange M&S technologies and resources to the TWD industry.
